Overview and Heritage of the World Retail Congress Global Series
The series of annual events includes; World Retail Congress (2007), World Retail Awards (2001), Retail Congress Asia (2010), Retail Congress Latin America, (2013), Retail Congress Africa (2013), Retail Congress China (2014) and World Retail Expo (2014). The key differentiator between our World event and the regionals is the sharing of local market information and experiences rather than global.
The series of events are the one stop shop for retail thought leaders and senior executives to learn about all aspects of retail strategy including but not limited to; the physical store, store design, layout, product sourcing, customer service, mCommerce, eCommerce, responsive design, customer data, multi-channel, in-store digital, social media, leadership.
World Retail Congress Series
Building on the success of this event and following extensive research, 2010 saw the launch of the very successful Retail Congress Asia, a region specific event addressing all the challenges retailers face when doing business in Asia. We are now pleased to announce that following repeated audience requests we are expanding the series further and have created 3 new region specific events, Africa, Latin America and China. These will offer businesses operating in these regions or looking to expand into them the perfect meeting place. Our years of expertise and global heritage in retail provides us with the right tools to deliver quality content on how to overcome and adapt to current retail challenges.
Given the exponential growth of the retail sector in Latin America, there is significant interest in the dynamics of this retail market.
As such the World Retail Congress was delighted to bring its unique platform to Latin America in 2013 for the first time. It was a dedicated strategic retail conference specifically designed to address the Latin American market.
As we look ahead, the Retail Congress Latin America 2014 will build on this success, providing deeper insight into Latin American retail opportunities and challenges. The Congress will demonstrate the latest growth strategies and technologies supporting regional and international retailers in their plans and offering the highest level of networking and business opportunities.
Retail Congress Africa is the only dedicated and premier C-level strategic retail congress specific to Pan-African markets.
The Congress launched in 2013 and as the first of its kind on the continent it brought together over 270 of the most senior retail executives operating in the Pan African region, as well as international leaders.
The unprecedented support and presence from international and regional retailers like Woolworths, Pick N Pay, Massmart, Coca-Cola, Google, Choppies, Nakumatt, Zando, Jumia and many more was integral to the atmosphere of networking and learning at the Congress.
Africa is the retail growth market of the future with still unexploited opportunities for first-movers.
The inaugural Retail Congress China, developed in partnership with the China Chain Store & Franchise Association (CCFA), is the largest premier, content-led retail industry event in China. Delivering on the recognised values of the World Retail Congress, it will provide industry thought-leadership, essential strategic content and high level networking, within a Chinese context.
The programme has been developed in close consultation with both domestic and international industry executives including SPAR China, Ferragamo and Metro Group. This in-depth agenda will examine the most critical emerging trends and business opportunities, provide exclusive case-studies of industry excellence and share global best-practice.
Now in its 4th year, World Retail Congress Asia Pacific has established itself as a key event on the retail calendar. The 2013 event attracted over 550 attendees from over 30 countries, for two days of high level discussions and networking. With the number 1 retailers from Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan & Philippines, Australia and many others in attendance, this event was unmatchable.
